Picasso Museum in Barcelona to close 2024 with record 1.13m visitors
More than 4.7m people visit city's council-run museums in 2024
The Picasso Museum in Barcelona is set to close 2024 with a record-breaking 1.13 million visitors.
Since January 1, the museum has seen an 8% increase in attendance compared to 2023, surpassing its previous record set in 2019.
The museum attributes the rise in visitors to growing interest in its programming, and noted there was a significant spike in attendance between May and October, the high season for tourism in Catalonia.
The 'Picasso Convida' (Picasso Invites) campaign, which offers two free hours three days a week, drew 56,000 more visitors than last year, with many of the attendees discovering the museum for the first time.
