Barcelona (CNA). - With the title “Repression and Resistance”, the initiative to make people aware of the abuses of Franco’s dictatorship has installed 12 large scale pictures on Barcelona’s streets. The exhibition presents pictures that are representative of the fascist dictatorship, which ruled Spain from 1936 to 1977, as well as the resistance movements fighting against it.
The pictures have been exhibited at the same spaces in which they were shot in order to evocate the memory of the struggle that took place at these spaces. Some of these images represent Franco’s last visit to Barcelona and the anti-fascist demonstration of 1978 in the university square. The exhibition coincides with the 2nd edition of the Democratic Memorial Symposium, which brings together various experts on dictatorial repression and judiciary revision.
