Park Güell ticket prices to rise to €18 in 2025
Current price of €10 is half the average price of the 20 most popular attractions in Europe
The price of tickets to Barcelona's Park Güell, the city's second most visited monument, is set to rise.
Starting in 2025, the ticket price will rise from the current €10 to €18.
The proposal has been approved by the city's administrative council and is expected to pass the government commission unchallenged.
Park Güell, which attracts around 4.5 million visitors each year, has not increased its ticket prices since 2018.
The increase aims to bring the park's prices in line with similar attractions across Europe, where the average ticket price is 50% higher than what Park Güell currently charges.
In fact, the average ticket price for the 20 most visited monuments in Europe is around €20.
This price adjustment will also bring Park Güell's ticket price closer to other iconic sites designed by architect Antoni Gaudí, such as the Sagrada Família, which costs €26, and La Pedrera, which costs €28.
The increase will mainly affect tourists, as local residents, students from nearby schools and children under seven already enjoy free entry.
The measure was backed by the Socialists with the support of the left-wing Comuns party, which stipulated that there should be additional days when Barcelona residents could visit for free.
