Parc Güell restoration works on iconic areas completed
Around 1,000 locals enjoy the park every day, a figure much higher than before the lockdown
The restoration works of Parc Güell, which were being carried out mainly in the iconic Hypostyle Room, the medallions, and on the bench in the Nature Park have been completed.
The Font Sarva will gain more prominence in the Gaudí park, as before it was an area that was not accessible, but will soon be open to visitors.
Other works finished include the restoration of the lower viaduct, restoring its original image.
Work will continue until mid-September on some other spaces, which will be temporarily closed to finish the last details.
Since the lockdown due to the coronavirus health crisis and the lower number of tourists visiting Barcelona as a result, many more locals have been enjoying the famous park designed by legendary Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí.
Neighbours living in the area can avail of a free access card which allows them to enter without cost in the mornings and evenings. Around 1,000 Barcelona residents visit the park every day.
