Over 60 documentaries presented at 2022 MEDIMED docs market
Attendees pitch new projects to international broadcasters
The docs market MEDIMED returned on Monday to Friday with over 250 attendees, with 62 different documentaries being presented from 24 different countries.
The event will take place online with several scheduled activities such as a pitching area featuring 28 different projects from 13 countries.
Attendees will also get to enjoy several 'industry talks' related to topics of the documentary industry, as well as a selection of the over 330 docs produced in the Euromed region between 2021-2022 at the Docs Gallery space.
During this week, the MEDIMED, co-organized by Catalonia's Diplocat – a public-private consortium that projects Catalonia to the world – will also have space for those 19 projects currently under development to be considered as those involved will be able to have 'speedy pitch meetings'.
Some of the attendees may be looking for collaborations with other countries to have a larger production team, so the 'New Players Pitch' area will allow people to network and reach agreements.
But, while some may be looking for funding, others may just want to present their documentaries that will be competing in future international cinema awards. In this case, the 'Anti Pitch' area will have eight films currently being edited ahead of their world premieres.
The idea of MEDIMED is so international broadcasters can meet with filmmakers, but also to get funding opportunities, be featured in festivals' schedules, or even distribute the documentary.
Among the several industry leaders taking place, there will be representatives from 75 TV channels, 20 international distribution companies, and investment funds such as Qatar's Doha Film Institute, US' Catapult Film Fund and Women Make Movies, and Jordan Film Fund.
