Nobel Literature Prize laureate presents new book in Barcelona
Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk sought to show the perils of authoritarianism to Turkish people through the novel
The 2006 Nobel Literature Prize laureate Orhan Pamuk (Istanbul, 1952) presented on Tuesday his new novel ‘The Red-Haired Woman’ (published in Catalan by Més llibres). The book tells of a contemporary tragedy revolving around the relationship between parents and children, starting in the Turkey of the 1980s, continuing until modern times.
In the book, Pamuk deals with the issues of love, patricide, intrigue, fable, and tragedy, after having met two workers who had built a well: one, an experienced practitioner, and another, his apprentice.
