More stages for a top music line-up at Barcelona’s 2014 Primavera Sound Festival
The 2014 Primavera Sound Festival, taking place from the 28th to the 31st May in the Catalan capital, is offering more concerts in its largest-ever space with a capacity for 60,000 people per day. Most of the 348 concerts will be on stages distributed throughout the Forum Park, next to the sea and Sant Adrià del Besos' marina. Other artists are programmed in concert halls such as the Sala Apolo or Barts. Headliners this year include Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, Mogway and Caetano Veloso, among many other international artists. Furthermore, top Catalan bands such as Mishima will also be playing.
Barcelona (ACN).- The 2014 Primavera Sound Festival, taking place from the 28th to the 31st May in the Catalan capital, is offering more concerts in its largest-ever space, with a capacity for 60,000 people per day. This edition, Primavera Sound has expanded across the city to offer a more varied cultural offer. Although the main part of the 348 concerts will be at the Fòrum Park, where the enclosure has grown to eleven different stages, other performances are programmed in different concert halls or museums throughout Barcelona such as Sala Apolo, Barts, Teatre Principal, La Latina and Espai Brossa. Furthermore, the PrimaveraPro, an international meeting point for the music industry, will be located in the Sant Agustí Convent in the Born neighbourhood, near the Ciutadella Park and the Gothic Quarter.
The festival started yesterday with a free debut concert by Belgian singer Stromae, the Temples and other bands, at the Fòrum Park, located next to the sea and and Sant Adriàs del Besòs' marina. From Thursday to Saturday the bulk of the artists will be rocking across the city. The most outstanding artists who have joined the line-up festival are Arcade Fire, The National, Queens of the Stone Age, Mogway, Television, Nine Inch Nails, Kendrick Lamar, Caetano Veloso, Saint Vincent and Laurent Garnier. Furthermore, top Catalan musicians will also be at Primavera Sound such Mishima, Standstill, Joana Serrat, Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Raúl Fernández.
The budget for this year is €9.7 million, 15% higher than last year. According to one of the organizers of the Primavera Sound, Pablo Soler, the increase in the budget is intended to better the line-up and to offer the public greater comfort. Another new feature of the present edition is an official mobile application that lets you check all the details about the artists, performances, maps and schedules.
