Mallorcan artist Miquel Barceló's tapestries to decorate Paris Notre-Dame Cathedral
Church to open on December 7 after reconstruction following April 2019 fire
Three tapestries by Mallorcan artist Miquel Barceló, one of the most famous painters alive in the Balearic Islands and Spain, will be part of Paris Notre-Dame Cathedral.
These three pieces will hang on the nave's northern side, over the eastern wall, as announced by the Paris archbishop during a press conference to report on the Cathedral's reopening.
The church will open on December 7 after the reconstruction following the fire in April 2019. However, Barceló's pieces will not be on display at the time.
With these new pieces, the Balearic Islands artist adds more religion-related artworks to his collection after designing a large ceramic mural in Palma de Mallorca's Cathedral.
Barceló's works will hang beside pieces by British painter of Kenyan origin, Michael Armitage.
Barceló's tapestries remain a mystery as officials did not unveil any details of his job.
