Mediapro to launch English-language 'factory of audiovisual production’ in US
Catalan company to open 10,000m2 content production center in Manhattan
The Catalan production and broadcasting company Mediapro will open a new production center in Manhattan, New York.
The new US infrastructure will span 10,000 square meters and will foster content creation in the English language.
The company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, is also getting ready to join the global production market through their Los Angeles offices of the Mediapro Studios.
Some of the future projects that the company has highlighted include works with the director Juan José Campanella, actors John Tuturro and Melissa Leo, and producers Evan Katz and Juliet McDaniel.
Tatxo Benet, president of Mediapro, explained to the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that, while they have been mainly producing projects in Spanish, they are now beginning a new era where English content will be added more regularly: "We want to be a key player in the production and distribution of media content in English, we don't want it to be every once in a while."
The Mediapro Studios integrates production companies like Globomedia, 100 Balas, El Terrat, Big Bang Media, K2000, Hostoil, Oficina Burman, and most recently Moonlyon, the company created together with actress Penélope Cruz.
