The region of Madrid saw a 96% increase in live music revenue in 2024, surpassing Catalonia as the top region in Spain in terms of industry earnings.

Catalonia generated €138.5 million, marking a 9% drop from the previous year, while Madrid's revenue soared to €185 million. These figures were largely driven by Karol G's four concerts at the Bernabéu Stadium and US artist Taylor Swift's performances.

In 2023, Catalonia led Spain in live music revenue with €152.5 million, followed by Madrid with €94.5 million, according to data released by the Musical Promoters Association on Wednesday during an event in Barcelona.

One of the main factors behind this shift could be the ongoing renovation of FC Barcelona's stadium, forcing the team to temporarily relocate to the Olympic Stadium until May.

The previous year, Barcelona's Olympic Stadium held four Coldplay concerts and two Bruce Springsteen gigs, among many more performances.

Across Spain, the live music industry generated €725.6 million, the highest figure ever recorded, reflecting a 25.32% increase from 2023. Last year marked the third consecutive record-breaking year for the sector.

Spanish singer Melendi was the top-selling national artist, while Bruce Springsteen led the international category. The festival with the highest number of tickets sold was the Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest.

Among large-scale music festivals, Arenal Sound had the highest attendance with almost 300,000 attendees, followed by Primavera Sound Barcelona (268,000) and Viña Rock (240,000 festival-goers).
