Author of sixty books and over 200 translated works, he directed 'Cavall Fort' magazine between 1979 and 1997
Linguist, writer and translator Albert Jané i Riera (Barcelona, 1930) has been awarded the 56th prestigious Catalan literary award Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes, or Honorary Prize of Catalan Letters, awarded by Òmnium Cultural.
Jané's career has been focused on the study and teaching of language and on children's and youth literature, although he has also written poetry.
His professional life is also closely linked to 'Cavall fort', a magazine for whom he was director between 1979 and 1997.
In total he has published sixty books, more than 200 translated works, and more than 150 translated graphic novels including 'The Smurfs'.
The jury highlighted that Jané, who received the Cross of Sant Jordi in 1990, is "an indisputable benchmark in the field of language."
