The celebrated English actor presented the documentary he narrates called ‘The Prado Museum. A collection of wonders’
Celebrated English actor Jeremy Irons was in the Catalan capital on Monday, to present the documentary ‘The Prado Museum. A collection of wonders’ at the BCN Film Fest, which was screened on Saturday.
Narrated by Irons and directed by Valeria Parisi, the film was released on the 200th anniversary of the Madrid museum’s foundation and gives insight into “a multitude of masterpieces of painting,” according to the event website.
Speaking to the press on Monday, the Oscar-winning actor praised that the documentary aimed to help people “understand” and “appreciate the past,” which are often a need during “times of economic and political change.”
“We can also learn and try understand the past, and therefore where we are now by looking at painting,” said Irons, through “how things were painted” or “what subjects interested people.”
“I think there is a real place and a real audience for such a documentary as we’ve made,” said the actor. “And I’m amazed by it.”
