On Sant Jordi, people buy a book and a rose for their loved ones at one of the many stands set up in the streets. There will also be activities all around the Catalan capital to celebrate this joyful day. 

April 23 is seen by many Catalans as one of the most important days of the year, celebrating love and literature.  

There will be over 400 stands on the streets of Barcelona selling books and roses. This year also has the highest number of book signings by authors. 

Many international authors will be there this year, such as British novelist and screenwriter David Nicholls, known for works such as Starter For Ten, Sari Arponen, a researcher known for her books on microbiota and the immune system, and Nicaraguan poet Gioconda Belli.

In our list below, we also highlight some prominent Spanish and Catalan authors who will meet readers on Wednesday, including Andrés Iniesta, Javier Cercas, and Ildefonso Falcones.
