Iconic Dalí painting goes on display in Catalonia for first time in 70 years
'Christ of Saint John of the Cross' is displayed "in dialogue" with 'Basket of Bread'
The Dalí Theatre and Museum in Figueres is showing the artist's work 'Christ of Saint John of the Cross' for the first time.
One of the most iconic works of the surrealist painter arrives to the north Catalan museum in an exhibition placed in dialogues with another outstanding piece by the artist, 'Basket of Bread.'
The combination, together with the immersion in the process of creating the piece, make the display "unique".
'Christ of Saint John of the Cross', Dalí's 1951 work which is normally exhibited in the Glasgow Museum, has not been seen in the country since 1952, when it was exhibited in Madrid and Barcelona.
To mark the exhibition, a new book titled 'Why, Dalí?' has been published by the editor Planeta, providing an in-depth look at the process of creating this masterpiece.
