History, acoustic, and techno
Whether history or music is your thing there are events for just about every taste over the next few months
Summer is in full swing in Catalonia, bringing with it festivals of all kinds. In fact, there are lots of cultural treats coming up, as a number of announcements showed today. And what’s more, there’s something for just about everyone, from historical reenactments to acoustic music concerts and techno parties.
Tortosa Renaissance festival
For example, Thursday July 19 will see the start of the two-day-long Renaissance Festival in the southern town of Tortosa. As with last year’s edition, the festival gives visitors a chance to step into the past, to a time adorned with flags and banners from the 16th century.
This, the festival’s 23rd edition, boasts one of the most complete historical reenactments to be found anywhere in Catalonia. Also on offer will be theater, workshops, parades, commerce, and more. In all, about a hundred events will take place in the town’s newly cobbled medieval streets.
Unite with Tomorrowland
For those in the mood for dancing, there’s Unite with Tomorrowland. Held in the Can Zam park just outside Barcelona on Saturday July 28, the festival also takes place simultaneously in other places around the world, from Lebanon to Taiwan. The Barcelona edition will be hoping to put last year’s fire behind it with DJs like Steve Aoki and Armin Van Buuren.
Acoustic Festival
Then, to close off the summer at the end of August, comes the Acoustic Festival held in the northern town of Figueres. This year is the festival’s 17th edition, running from August 30 to September 2, and will include performances by the likes of Love of Lesbian, Els Catarres, Doctor Prats, and Albert Pla.
Spread over eight different venues, the festival is expecting some 100,000 attendees to turn up again, all looking for some of the best music in Catalonia, as well as top artists from abroad. Other performers will include the likes of Quimi Portet, Núria Graham, Animal, Joanjo Bosk, Judit Neddermann, and Iseo & Dodosound.
