French duo Air to celebrate 25 years of 'Moon Safari' at Sónar 2024
Barcelona festival will feature over 100 performances and activities from June 13-15 including Jessie Ware and Floating Points
French duo Air will pay tribute to their iconic debut album 'Moon Safari' at Sónar 2024, organizers have announced.
25 years on from its release, it will be the first time ever that the record will be played live in its entirety.
The performance will take place on Friday, June 14, at SonarClub, the main stage at Sónar by Night.
'Moon Safari', released in 1998 and now considered a cult classic, is the "perfect record from the golden era of French electronic music, a masterful fusion of downtempo with the rich heritage of chanson française," Sónar said.
Its release catapulted Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel to fame, with tracks like 'Sexy Boy', 'All I Need', and 'La Femme d’Argent' lodging themselves in the public subconscious during the late 90s.
The band's appearance at Sónar 2024 sees Air return to the festival following a previous live set in 2010.
They'll join over 100 other performances and activities at Sónar 2024, including already announced acts like Jessie Ware, Kaytranada, Ben Böhmer live, Vince Staples, Folamour, The Martinez Brothers, Kerri Chandler, Charlotte de Witte presents 'Overdrive', Floating Points, and Olof Dreijer.
The electronic music festival takes place on June 13-15 in Barcelona, with the lineup to be finalised in the coming weeks. Tickets for the festival are already available on the Sónar website.
