ExpoDinos takes visitors 200 million years back to the Jurassic Period
Dinosaur exhibition with replicas and interactive screens open until April 21

Some twenty-five dinosaurs have taken over Barcelona’s Poble Espanyol at the newly opened ExpoDinos.
The dinosaurs are, luckily or unfortunately (depending on the reader), not real, but large replicas of the giant creatures that lived around 200 million years back.

“Some of them move, others make sounds, and if they see you walking by, they will move for sure,” says Laia Ribes Ferré, the project manager of ExpoDinos. “They are not real, but they could be!”

Through interactive screens, information panels, and sound effects visitors are invited on a journey through the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods to learn about the animals’ habitats, diets, sizes, lifestyles, and fun facts.
An exhibit for the curious
“The exhibit is for everyone,” says Ribes adding that it’s particularly of interest to families who are “curious” and “love to learn about dinosaurs.”

The exhibit is divided into two main sections indoors based on research of British paleontologist Harry Seeley, who divided dinosaurs into two groups based on their hip structure.
After learning about the dinosaurs, visitors are encouraged to test their knowledge in a quiz, before moving to an outdoor area where they can become paleontologists and help excavate a T-Rex skeleton.

“It’s all about losing yourself and stepping out of your routine,” says Ribes.
ExpoDinos is open until April 21 and tickets start at 9 euros and can be purchased here.
