Everything ready for the 31st FiraTàrrega festival
Technicians have completed the construction of stages and arts companies have rehearsed. For 4 days Tàrrega will host 261 performances of 54 shows, 16 of them premieres. More than ninety national and international companies will participate in this the 31st edition of the fair.
Tàrrega (ACN) .- Everything in Tàrrega is ready to host a variety of performing arts. Almost all participating companies are already in the capital of Urgell for the festival which will run between the 8th and the 11th of September. Technicians will review every detail to ensure that both stages and performance areas are ready for tomorrow, when the FiraTàrrega starts.
For 4 days Tàrrega will host 261 performances of 54 shows, 16 of them premieres. More than ninety national and international companies will participate in this the 31st edition of the fair. The event will be the platform for 16 new theatrical releases, with performances that span several genres, including dance, circus performance, and theatre amongst others. The opening show 'Entròpic' will be put on by Los Galindos, who on Wednesday made their finishing touches. It is a circus of street performers in a large, organized format, with three stages, twenty artists and live music. The acrobatics, trapeze and tightrope walking will be performed over a forty meter footbridge with audience members on both sides. The spectacle is designed to create a collective atmosphere of excitement and involvement. The opening of FiraTàrrega 2011 will take place on the 8th at 9pm in the Hort del Barceloní arena with the show repeated the next day at 10pm. In the professional field, FiraTàrrega has 731 participants who belong to 375 organizations. Specifically, 400 Catalan professionals from 167 organizations, while 161 accredited professionals from other regions representing 91 organizations. 170 international professionals representing 117 companies will also be in attendance. The FiraTàrrega festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Founded in 1981 it is the town’s largest festival combining all types of performing arts from dance to dramatics. Theatre companies, from Catalonia, the rest of Spain and International locations will be performing. In addition to performances there is also a large Craftwork Market for hand-made products.
