Discover Barcelona's landmarks through games, quizzes, and challenges
Explorial's app presents a new way to discover the Catalan capital
Explorial is a new app that was presented on Thursday, offering a set of routes to get to know Barcelona through games, quizzes, and challenges.
The routes take users through two of the city's main tourist and historical hotspots: the Gothic Quarter, visiting famous sites such as the Cathedral and the Boqueria market, and the modernist area that includes buildings such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, both designed by famous architect Antoni Gaudí and located on Passeig de Gràcia boulevard.
All of the circuits have been created by a local tourist guide and last an hour and a half.
"I think they are as good as any other tour-guiding experience, they are very in-depth in getting to know the places," André Jacques, country manager of Explorial in Spain, explained to Catalan News. "Even local people will get to know details or parts of history or stories that are not so well known to the majority of people."
The Swiss company was created with the idea of changing the service that tourist guides offer in order to focus more on each person's interests and rhythm when discovering a new city.
"We invite people to visit the city through their own guidance, and with a level of entertainment," Jacques adds.
The app can be found in 16 countries and has 93 routes around the world, 13 of those in Spain, including one in Tarragona, in the south of Catalonia.
When talking about how the app works, André Jacques says that Explorial was built in a way that everyone can use it: "a child can do it with their parents and an older group of people can do it as well because it is very easy to work with."
