Depeche Mode, first headliner of Primavera Sound 2023
Electro-pop icons announce new album, Memento Mori, first record after death of founding member Andrew Fletcher
The first headline act that will perform at the 2023 Primavera Sound has been announced. Electronic group Depeche Mode will take the stages in Barcelona and Madrid next June.
Primavera Sound is an annual music festival in Barcelona that takes place in Parc del Forùm around the beginning of June. Last year's edition was the first to be organized two consecutive weekends, as compensation for a two-year Covid break. This year, the festival moves to Madrid for the second weekend.
With Depeche Mode, Primavera Sound welcomes the first legendary name to the lineup, known for hit singles such as Just Can't Get Enough, Enjoy the Silence, and Everything Counts.
The band revealed the news at a press conference in Berlin as part of their upcoming world tour, where they also announced a new upcoming album, Memento Mori, which will be their first release following the unexpected death of founding member Andrew Fletcher last May. The tour will be the first as a duo for Dave Gahan and Martin Gore since Fletcher's passing away.
The Barcelona concert will take place on June 2, while the one in Madrid will take place a week later on June 9.
The announcement came just in time for the next round of ticket sales, beginning on Thursday at 12pm, starting from €270. With prices increasing slightly in each round, the announcement of Depeche Mode could be the right moment to buy your ticket.
