Cruïlla music festival closes a 'dream' edition with 76,000 attendees
Only 1% are internationals, while Barcelona residents account for 61% of festival-goers
Barcelona's Cruïlla music festival closed a "dream" edition after welcoming 76,000 attendees between Wednesday and Saturday.
The event, which takes place in Parc del Fòrum, has "reinforced a dream," Jordi Herreruela, festival director, told media outlets. For organizers, this is the path to create a "different festival."
The opening day, Wednesday, saw 12,000 people, 16,000 on Thursday, 25,000 on Friday, and 23,000 on Saturday.
"We have been long thinking about what festival we wanted to offer, and this is what we have now," Herreruela said.
"Cruïlla is a music festival for everybody, where people can come as who they are, and they do not need to hide themselves or be someone who they are not," he added.
Cruïlla Festival saw international headliners perform at the music festival, such as Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Rós, and Placebo.
Also scheduled were Leiva, Sen Senra, Carolina Durante, Amaia, Stay Homas, Sidonie, Cala Vento, Ciudad Jara, and Dani Fernández.
Antònia Font and Viva Suècia were also some of the most memorable shows at Cruïlla 2023.
1% of international visitors
During this year's edition, only 1% of the attendees were foreigners, something very different from the many international visitors coming to Primavera Sound in early June. Cruïlla also saw 61% of attendees residing in Barcelona city, 29% in neighboring cities to the Catalan capital, 7% from other cities across Catalonia, and 3% from Spain.
Overall, 49% were women, 48% were men, and 3% were non-binary. Most festival-goers, 47%, were aged between 30 and 40, while those over 40 accounted for 35% of the public, and those aged 25 to 30 represented 10%. Those under 25 were the 8% of the overall attendees.
There are many more concerts and festivals across Catalonia this summer.
