CCCB, MACBA, and Liceu join forces for first time to push boundaries of opera
'Micro Operas of Today' brings together artists such as Pol Guasch, Clara Aguilar, and Marina Herlop
Three of Barcelona's biggest cultural institutions are uniting forces for the first time to push the boundaries and challenge the limits of opera.
The Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) and the Liceu opera house have presented a new interdisciplinary project on Wednesday titled ‘Micro Operas of Today’ ('Microòperes d'avui' in Catalan), which can be seen on the weekend of February 8 and 9.
The initiative aims to expand the perspective of traditional opera through music, art, and thought.
They will show three newly created micro operas focused on the relationship between humans and nature, which can be seen consecutively and itinerantly in the three spaces.
Artists such as Pol Guasch, Clara Aguilar, Marina Herlop, Rosa Tharrats, Sílvia Delagneau, Gabriel Ventura and Míriam Cano are participating in the project.
