The Catalan music scene is experiencing one of its greatest moments in history, and this vibrancy is evident in this year's edition of Primavera Sound.

This type of festival, one of the largest in Europe, always features big international names and the representation of Catalan music has historically been scarce.

The majority of the festival's attendees usually come from outside Spain. In 2022, 65% were foreigners, but in 2023 the figure fell to 52%, and organizers said the festival had "nationalized".

Possibly, this increase greater influx of local attendees and the big moment in Catalan music, has favored a higher presence of Catalan artists this year.

Mushkaa shines at Primavera Sound

One of the most anticipated Catalan performances at Primavera Sound was that of Mushkaa, who was presenting her latest work 'Sexy Sensible' on Friday night.

Imma Farelo, sister of the renowned Bad Gyal, has established herself as a pioneer in Barcelona's growing music scene.

She boasts collaborations with numerous acclaimed artists, including her recent work with Bad Gyal, as well as successful tracks alongside Julieta, The Tyets and Figa Flawas.

Blending her latest songs with classics from her early career, Mushkaa had Primavera Sound fans dancing the night away.

Lana Del Rey draws record crowd to Ferran Palau show

One of the standout moments was undoubtedly Ferran Palau's concert, which opened the festival's main stage on Saturday, hours before Lana Del Rey's show.

Unfortunately, despite the massive turnout, it wasn't exactly for his music. Lana's fans rushed to the stage as soon as the festival gates opened at 5 p.m. to secure a front-row seat.

Although the audience for the Catalan pop singer was mostly made up of Del Rey fans, the moment also served as an opportunity for them to discover one of the Catalan artists of the moment.

Guillem Gisbert returns after Manel pause

Singer-songwriter Guillem Gisbert returned to Primavera Sound as a solo artist, having previously performed with the iconic Catalan band Manel

After a hiatus in 2023, the singer Gisbert started his solo project and released his album 'Balla la masurca!

Accompanied by a new band, Gisbert performed many tracks from the album, a melancholic pop record that returns to the simplicity that characterized Manel at the beginning.
