Catalan-language comedy festival Cruïlla kicks off in Barcelona
Shows will be held from November 2 to 5 in Poblenou district
Cruïlla Comèdia, a Catalan-language comedy festival, begins today, November 2, and runs until Sunday, October 5. The event will take place for the first time in Barcelona's Poblenou district.
Oscar Andreu and Oye Sherman will headline the festival with their new shows, while Marc Sarrats will end his "Alta Flipamenta" tour at the festival, where his show will be recorded for a television special. Other performers at the festival include Joel Díaz, Oscar Andreu, Andrés Fajngold, Ana Polo, Modgi and Maria Lyona, among others.
The festival will feature one-hour specials and comedy rounds, where different comedians share the stage. There will also be nine open mics for emerging or established comedians.
Cruïlla Comedia is directed by screenwriter Oriol de Balanzó, with actress and comedian Irene Minovas and screenwriter Manel Vidal sharing the role of artistic directors.
This is the first time that the comedy festival has been separated from the main Cruïlla festival, which has been held every summer since 2005.
The festival will take place at different venues in Poblenou, with the Casino l'Aliança and the Centre Moral i Cultural hosting most of the shows.
