The hit Catalan film 'A House on Fire' will be available on Netflix on October 23.

The dramatic comedy, directed by Dani de la Orden, became the most-watched Catalan-language film of the last decade last month.

It has also made history as the highest-grossing Catalan-language film, having already earned €2.6 million in September.

The film follows the reunion of a middle-class family over a weekend on the Costa Brava. Emma Vilarasau leads a cast that also includes Enric Auquer, Clara Segura, Alberto San Juan, Maria Rodríguez-Soto and Macarena García.

The film's success has sparked renewed interest in Catalan cinema, which is experiencing its best moment in recent years.

Thanks to 'A House on Fire' and 'El 47,' which tells the story of the social struggles in the Torre Baró neighborhood of Barcelona in the 1970s, Catalan cinema is experiencing its prime moment since 2017.

Both movies have pushed the number of Catalan cinema spectators to new records, as between January and September 15 up to 644,689 people watched a movie in Catalan.

'A House on Fire' welcomed 342,396 spectators and 'El 47' a total of 158,255 movie-goers.

Counting all the movies in Catalan language and those dubbed into Catalan, the number of spectators already surpassed last year's figures, but, until mid-September, it was behind the 2017 number of 729,888 as at the time several movies coincided in cinemas: 'Estiu 1993,' 'Incerta Glòria,' 'Tadeu Jones 2,' and the dubbed versions of 'Ballerina,' and 'Gru.'

Despite the difference in the number of actual spectators, the percentage has increased by 7%, as back then there were around 19.3 million tickets sold, while between the nine first months of 2024, only 9.2 tickets have been sold.
