Barcelona (CNA).- Catalan musical groups such as 'Els Amants de les Arts', 'Gossos' and 'La Brigada' have participated in a compilation album that includes eighteen Beatles’ songs versioned in the Catalan language. Hits like 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'Old Brown Shoe' can be heard for the first time ever in Catalan. The disc has been launched together with the July issue of the journal 'Enderrock', that is featuring a special tribute to the Beatles.

The special edition of 'Enderrock' and the music disc coincide with the 45th anniversary of the famous Beatles concert in Barcelona in July of 1965. Moreover, the launch celebrates the 70th birthday of Ringo Starr and the 50th anniversary of the foundation of 'The Beatles'.

In 1965, the Beatles changed people's “way of communication” in Catalonia, but also all around the world, said Josep Maria Francino during the presentation of the disc. Francino was one of the journalists who reported on the famous concert of 1965 in Barcelona. In this special edition of 'Enderrock', Antonio Miquel Cervero 'Leslie', a former member of 'Los Sírex' who opened up for the Beatles in Barcelona, also participated.

The managing editor of 'Enderrock', Lluís Gendrau, said that this special edition has been an “opportunity” to reunite all Beatles fans in Catalonia. Apart from the musicians that participated in the disc, the journal also includes articles in which figures from the Catalan society describe their feelings and memories of the British group. Personalities such as the Catalan President José Montilla and the leader of the opposition, Artur Mas, are among those interviewed in this special edition.
