Barcelona's La Rambla is arguably the city's most photographed street, with thousands of people walking through it every day, making it a major tourist hub.

But what happens on La Rambla after dark? This is the question two students from Pompeu Fabra University, Maria Bareche and Clara Barfull, wanted to explore when they began filming the street night after night.

"We went to La Rambla simply to observe, without intervening. Our goal was to capture what we saw," the filmmakers explain.

However, they were soon surprised by the overwhelming male presence during the nighttime hours. This discovery shifted the focus of the documentary, giving it a gender perspective.

The result is 'Bona nit, Rambles,' a documentary now featured in the Nest section of the San Sebastian Film Festival.

"During the day, La Rambla is packed with tourists, but at night, it transforms. Tourists give way to street vendors selling drinks," they say.

They describe their work as an "eclectic" project that captures the vibrant diversity of the space, filled with many "surprising" scenes.
