Blur, Nick Cave, My Bloody Valentine, The Postal Service and Animal Collective will perform at Barcelona’s 2013 Primavera Sound

The music festival will celebrate its 13th anniversary with an impressive lineup and the participation of a long-list of prestigious artists. The Primavera Sound Music Festival, which takes place every year in late May in the city of Barcelona, is considered to be one of the best international music events in Southern Europe. It is also one of Barcelona’s musical highlights, along with the Sonar festival in June. This year’s Primavera Sound edition presented what is said to be the best list of participating artists since the beginning of the festival. Indie, rock and electronic music will be the mainstays of the festival.

Barcelona (ACN) - The full line up for the 2013 edition of the Festival was recently revealed at a special gala at the Apolo night club in Barcelona. The festival, known mainly for its independent music, will also include artists of a large variety of styles, from pop and rock to electronic and dance music, in the best lineup of participating artists in the history of the Primavera Sound. A record sell out is expected for this year’s festival. The festival will take place at the Fòrum Park in Barcelona, next to the sea, from the 22nd till the 26th of May. Eight stages will be prepared for the performances. Full festival tickets can be bought online at a price of €175.

Top British band Blur was the first to be announced, as it is the most important face of this year’s edition of the festival. The duo The Postal Service has also been confirmed, and will be back on the Primavera stage. Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, My Bloody Valentine (which have already participated in the festival in previous years), Animal Collective, Wu Tang Clan (celebrating their twentieth anniversary), James Blake, The Vaccines, Fiona Apple, Dead Can Dance or Dinosaur JR are other names that stand out.

From 22nd to 26th of May

The festival will take place at the Fòrum Park in Barcelona, next to the sea, from the 22nd till the 26th of May. Eight stages will be prepared for the performances, and different activities such as the record fair, the touring concert poster show Flatstock or children’s “minimúsica” will be also held.

Primavera Sound has undertaken some green initiatives that consist in evaluating the environmental impact of the festival and will be encouraging selective waste collection, using more sustainable materials and the reduction of green house gas emissions.

Environmental respect will be asked of festival-goers. Some of this advice includes coming by foot, bicycle or public transport, reusing glasses, using the recycling bins or looking after trees.

Ticket price

Full festival tickets can be bought at a price of €175. They can be purchased online as well as at Barcelona’s bookshop and art gallery Mutt. Tickets for combined Primavera Sound and Optimus Primavera Sound (its Portuguese version that takes place in Porto) can be bought for €235.
