'Barcino Sacra card': Barcelona's ecclesiastic legacy in one card
New tourist card gives access to 8 of the city's most emblematic religious spots
Barcelona's tourism office has launched the "Barcino Sacra card," a card that will give access to 8 of the Catalan capital's most significant places of worship.
During three days, cardholders will be able to visit famous religious spaces such as the Barcelona Cathedral, the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, and the Temple of Sagrat Cor of Tibidabo, among others.
The card will not, however, give access to Antoni Gaudí's Sagrada Familia, the city's famous unfinished Basilica.
The Barcino Sacra card will allow people to discover "1,800 years of history while revisiting Roman, Gothic, and Baroque art," says priest Josep Maria Turull, commissioner of the card.
The president of Barcelona's tourism office, Eduard Torres, added that the launch of the new card is "just the beginning" of the project, as the goal is to add to the spaces available and extend to all the territory.
"This card is targeted to both foreign tourists as well as locals, as it includes better-known spaces and some that are not so famous in the city," Turull adds.
The card can be acquired both in-person, at any tourism office, or online. It will be available from July 1 at a price of €47, with a reduction for students and children.
