Barcelona will take a central role at the 2025 edition of the Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême international festival (FIBD). The event is celebrating its 52nd anniversary with UNESCO inviting the Catalan capital and Quebec as special guests.

The FIBD is considered one of the world's largest comic fairs, as it welcomes at least 200,000 attendees per edition. The exhibition will take place in the western French city of Angoulême between January 30 and February 2

The pavilion is the epicenter of the comic fair. There, the Catalan capital will present the exhibition "Barcelona in cartoons."

The exhibition showcases a visual scenario of the city through places like buildings designed by architect Antoni Gaudí and the streets of the Gothic Quarter.

Aside from the exposition, the pavilion will also feature different activities for all the public attending the comic fair.

Before the event, several Spanish and Catalan authors and illustrators will visit on January 29, some of the names are Jordi Lafebre, Sandra Cardona, Nadia Hafid, Marc Torices, Pep Brocal, and Sara Soler, all of whom are settled in Barcelona.

The artists will also host a live painting show at the UNESCO Pavilion and illustrators' competition on February 1.

To access this year's FIBD people must buy a daily pass, the price range is €14 to €30, or a four-day-pass priced between €35 and €65 which gives unlimited access.
