Barcelona will be showcasing the best of contemporary German cinema as part of the 10th edition of the 'Cicle de cinema alemany actual' festival, which will take place from October 22 to November 7.

Organized by the Goethe Institut and the Filmoteca de Catalunya, ten of Germany's "most interesting" independent films will be screened in the Catalan capital in German with Spanish subtitles.

The festival will focus on themes including migration, modern love, debates surrounding the #MeToo movement, terrorism as well as a dystopian climate change-altered future.

This year's edition will be kicked off by famed director Werner Herzog presenting his latest documentary, 'Nomad: in the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin', on Thursday at the Filmoteca, in Barcelona's Raval neighborhood, the day before the festival's official start.

Other movies include Andres Veiel's 'Ökozid', Maggie Peren's 'Hallo Again', or Visar Morina's 'Exil'.

Tickets, which are already on sale, cost €3 to €4.
