Barcelona Manga fair ends record-breaking edition with 167,000 visitors
Manga legends Naoki Urasawa and Yumiko Igarashi elevate 30th edition of iconic festival
The Barcelona Manga Fair wrapped up its 30th edition on Sunday, attracting over 167,000 visitors across the four days, 2,000 more than the previous year.
"This edition has been a dream come true," said the fair's general director, Meritxell Puig, in an interview with the Catalan News Agency (ACN).
Puig called the edition a "historic success," not only due to the record attendance but also because of the appearances by manga legends Naoki Urasawa and Yumiko Igarashi.
"We are incredibly grateful for the public that supports us year after year, always coming with excitement and a desire to try new things," she added.
Tickets for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday had sold out before the event, but Thursday also saw strong attendance.
“Thursday was a weekday, and we wondered how it would go, but it turned out great. It was the day many people came to be the first to enjoy the manga artists we had as guests and to buy exclusive, never-before-seen items,” Puig explained.
The next edition of the fair will take place from December 5 to 8, 2025.
