Art enjoyed by half of Catalan population in 2017

The most frequent visitor for museums and exhibitions are between the ages of 14-24

Some 49.4% people over the age of 14 in Catalonia visited museums and exhibition spaces in 2017, according to a report released by the Department of Culture and the Catalan Institute of Research in Cultural heritage. The most frequent visitors are between the ages of 14-24, students being those who have the highest participation index.

Regards museums, in particular, some 42.7% Catalans said they frequented at least one museum last year (1.7 points higher than in 2016). Of these, more than two thirds visited 3 or more museums. The statement highlights that 63.7% of those surveyed went to see a museum while on vacation or even on a weekend outing. Some 30.3% said they visited monuments.
