Covid measures extended for two more weeks with no changes
Authorities maintain current use of EU certificate and limited restrictions despite increase in transmissions
Current Covid measures will be extended for another two weeks from Friday without any changes.
The Catalan civil protection emergency committee, Procicat, has decided to maintain the restrictions despite the increase in transmissions over the past few weeks. These measures will have to be greenlighted by Catalonia's High Court.
There are no capacity restrictions in restaurants, cultural venues, outdoor sports facilities, universities, and trade fairs.
Restaurants also have pre-pandemic opening times and do not have to maintain distances between tables. There no longer has to be a maximum of ten people seated per table either.
Some restrictions remain in force, such as the ban on eating or drinking in public from 1 am to 6 am and the measure preventing the sale of alcohol in convenience stores between 10 pm and 6 am.
The Spain-wide face mask mandate in indoor public places open as well as outdoor areas where social distancing cannot be kept is expected to continue through the autumn and winter months. Masks must also be worn in schools by all children aged 6 and older.
Almost all of Catalonia's remaining Covid-19 measures were lifted on October 15 following Civil Protection's decision to lower the pandemic risk level from an emergency to an alert.
Where Covid certificate is mandatory
A Covid certificate demonstrating proof of vaccination, having had the virus, or a recent negative test is required to enter nightclubs or attend events in hotels and restaurants with indoor dance floors.
