A guide to the 2025 Three Kings' Parades in Catalonia
Their Majesties will be welcomed in Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Reus, and many more towns
The Christmas season is still in full swing in Catalonia. In fact, it will crescendo to its peak on January 6, with the Three Kings arriving on January 5 in magical parades held up and down the country.
Each year, as the three wise men arrive in towns and cities across Catalonia and Spain, they are welcomed in spectacular fashion, throwing candy and sweets to everyone in attendance.
This year, there will be parades in Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Reus, and plenty more towns and cities.
In the Catalan capital of Barcelona, the Kings’ parade will kick off at 6 pm and usually lasts for three hours. First, Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar will land into the city at around 4.30pm at the city’s port, where they will be handed the key to the city by the mayor.
The parade will travel through Barcelona following this route:
6 pm: Marquès de l’Argentera Avenue
6.15: Passeig de Colom
7.10: Avinguda Parallel
7.30: Ronda de Sant Pau
7.45: Mercat de Sant Antoni
8.30: Carrer de Sepúlveda
8.45: Plaça d’Espanya
9.15: Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, Montjuïc Magic Fountain
In Girona, their Majesties will set up camp at the Royal Camp, which will be located in the Devesa Park, in the Camp de Mart, from 4 to 6 pm.
From here, they will begin the parade through different streets and squares of Girona leading up to the Plaça de l’U d’Octubre 2017, where the grand finale will take place. During the event, the 6 musical bands participating in the cavalcade will all play the song of the Three Kings together, and the mayor of Girona, Lluc Salellas, representing the city, will welcome Their Majesties.
In Reus, the parade will leave from Carrer Ample at 6:30 pm and will continue along Avinguda Prat de la Riba, Carrer del President Companys, Carrer de Sant Joan, Raval de Jesús, Raval de Martí Folguera, Raval de Robuster, Raval de Sant Pere, Plaça de la Puríssima Sang, Raval del Pallol, Plaça de Catalunya and Carrer de l'Amargura.
When the procession reaches Plaça del Pintor Fortuny, the pages, musicians, and the Kings will descend on Roman beams to Plaça del Mercadal, where they will collect the Keys of the City from the hands of the Mayor of Reus.
In Tarragona, the parade will start at 7 pm, lead by the Star which guided the Three Kings on their journey, and the float of the Fanal de la Ciutat de Tarragona.
The procession will pass through Plaça dels Carros, Carrer Apodaca, Plaça de la Mitja Lluna, Carrer Unió, Rambla Nova, Carrer Sant Agustí, Carrer Portalet until arriving at Plaça de la Font at 8:30 pm.
In Lleida, in western Catalonia, the celebration of the Three Kings’ will start at 5 pm at Plaça de l’estació, before the arrival of Their Majesties at 5.30 pm.
The parade will kick off at 6 pm from that square, and pass through Plaça Ramon Berenguer IV, Rambla Ferran, Avinguda Francesc Macià, Avinguda Blondel, Avinguda Madrid, Plaça Espanya and Avinguda Blondel, and arrive in front of the town hall, known as the Paeria.
In Igualada, the parade kicks off at 6pm, following through Passeig Verdaguer, Av. Montserrat, Av. de Caresmar, Carrer de la Soledat, Plaça del Rei, Carrer de Sant Jordi, Rambla del General Vives, Rambla de Sant Isidre, Rambla Nova, Rambla de Sant Ferran, before finishing in Plaça Castells.
