United Airlines has brought forward its seasonal route between Barcelona and Washington D.C. by two months, with the first flight beginning on Friday.
This flight adds to the airline's currently operating routes connecting Catalonia with New York (Newark airport) and Chicago, and with San Francisco from May 24.
Until March 31, the company will operate between El Prat and Washington D.C. on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, while in the reverse direction it will be on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
From April, the journeys between the cities will be daily. The route will be served with a Boeing 767-400 with a total of 231 seats.
Spain's United Airlines country manager, Antonio de Toro, said that with the route brought forward, it will be possible to travel there also in winter, as well as to book summer holidays well in advance.
In total, the airline has increased its offering of flights between the United States and all of Spain by 30%, with connections to Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Tenerife.
