Unemployment down 27% compared to last year

February saw the number of jobless workers reduce by 142, leaving a total of 371,000 without work

February saw another slight drop in unemployment in Catalonia. Compared with January, there are now 142 fewer unemployed workers in the territory, a decrease of 0.4%. 

This means that the year-on-year figures have seen the number of unemployed workers fall by 27.45%. By the end of February, there were a total of 371,660 people without employment in Catalonia. 

These are according to figures released on Wednesday morning by Spain's labor ministry.

This rate of registered unemployment is the lowest seen during any February since 2008. 

The number of workers signed up to social security has risen in the last month by 21,247 people, and 144,521 more jobs have been created compared to a year ago (+4.3%). 

Across Spain, unemployment fell by 11,394 people in February.
