Members of the tech community and several entrepreneurs gathered in Barcelona on Sunday to kick off Tech Spirit Barcelona, the spontaneous event organized following the cancellation of 4YFN and the Mobile World Congress.

The digital and entrepreneur ecosystem of Barcelona met for lunch at the famous 'La Boqueria' market, on La Rambla.

In fact, the lunch was part of the Mobile World Congress events, and organizers decided not to cancel it and use it as part of the Tech Spirit program. The event will encompass several entrepreneurship conferences from February 23 to February 27.

The CEO of the Mobile World Capital, Carlos Grau, said that the initiative is an "exceptional answer to an exceptional situation."

Miquel Martí, CEO of Barcelona Tech City, said the new event aims to "fill the void" left by the cancellation of the Mobile World Congress due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Catalan president Quim Torra praised the organizers for their "efforts" to keep the 'tech' system active despite the recent difficulties.
