The Elite Taxi union has called for an “immediate stoppage” of activity in the Barcelona metropolitan area until “further notice.”

The motion was called after the Catalan Supreme Court decided to uphold the suspension of the regulation in Barcelona which had previously limited the amount of Uber and Cabify licenses.

The stoppage will go at a minimum until the end of the meeting set between taxi drivers and Barcelona mayor Ada Colau at 18h, which was called urgently at the City Council.

“We do not assume responsibility for any act that could happen in our streets, instead placing responsibility on the Ministry of Public Works and its minister,” informed Elite Taxi through a statement.
