Second best October on record for Catalan hotels
4,6 million overnight reservations were made throughout month, 2.9% less than last year, according to the Spanish Statistics Institute
The number of overnight hotel bookings throughout Catalonia in October decreased by 2.69%, according to the Spanish Statistics Institute, but the month still stands as the second best October on records.
According to the figures, published on Thursday, a total of 4,559,039 overnight reservations were made, only slightly less than the same time last year. This decrease coincides with the political dispute between Catalonia and Spain.
1,063,095 foreign travellers booked into hotels throughout Catalonia in October, a decrease of 2.9%, while the total of Spanish residents booking hotels dropped by 2%.
The data indicates that 1,654,341 people checked in to Catalan hotels, 76,656 less than the same month last year, which was the best performing on October on records.
In Barcelona, the amount of overnight bookings made fell by 3.3%.
