Sales of homes surge by almost 50% in October

Almost 11,000 homes sold in one month, the highest figure in 17 years

The sale of homes in Catalonia jumped by 49.4% year-on-year in October, reaching 10,925, according to provisional data from Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE).

This is the highest figure in the last 17 years, since May 2007, when 11,753 homes were sold.

Across Spain, home sales increased by 51.3%, reaching 69,418 transactions, which also represents the highest figure since May 2007, when there were 75,883 homes sold.

Compared to September, home sales in Catalonia increased by 21.6%, while the increase was 12.2% for Spain as a whole.

In the Barcelona region, home sales rose by 52.4% on last October, reaching 7,221 transactions. 

In the Girona region, the increase was 26.9%, reaching 1,377 transactions compared to October 2023.

In the Lleida region, home sales surged by 55.6% year-on-year, reaching 599 transactions. 

Lastly, in the Tarragona region, home sales increased by 56.5%, reaching 1,728 transactions.
