Retail sales in Catalonia grew by 1.7% in November compared to the same month last year, according to official figures. The increase is attributed to consumer campaigns, such as ‘Black Friday’. The growth contrasts with October, when sales fell by 4%.

In Spain as a whole, sales went up by 2.9% in November compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, in Catalonia, if sales at gas stations are not taken into account, business turnover increased by 2.1%.

The figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) show that the sector with the highest growth in sales was in personal items (5.8%), followed by household equipment (3.1%) and then food (2.9%).
