Over 2,000 Catalan businesses created in May
New record for month of May since 2008, with 3.5% increase on last year
Catalonia saw 2,046 new businesses during May, according to Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE).
This quantity represents an all-time high for May since 2008, when the organization started keeping records.
Compared to the same month last year, the creation of businesses increased by 3.5%.
Catalonia is the second region with more companies created after Madrid, which saw 2,216 new businesses in May. Nevertheless, 165 Catalan companies closed, most of them voluntarily.
In Spain, 10,404 companies were created, increasing by 13.9% from last year's numbers.
