Catalan inflation rises slightly to 3% in January
Price Index increases by 0.1 percentage points, driven by housing and electricity cost

Prices in Catalonia slightly increased during the first month of the year, as inflation in January slightly rose to 3%, according to data published by Spain's statistics institute (INE) on Friday.
This is just a mere 0.1 percentage points higher than the inflation figure registered for last year's December.
After a downtrend in food and beverage prices during the last months, costs have increased by 2.2%, although these are still lower compared to the previous year's 7%.
One of the most significant price differences was in olive oil, as the cost was reduced by 12.8% compared to last year's increase of 44.5%.
Regarding housing and electricity costs, prices rose by 7.4% compared to last January's 0.4% increase.
Meanwhile, fuel prices dropped by 0.7% compared to last year, and in January 2024, they were 8.1% lower. One year ago, fuel was cheaper across Catalonia and Spain.
Catalonia started 2024 with a 3.3% inflation registered in January.
Spain has recorded an inflation of 2.9%, down by 0.1 percentage points compared to the estimated inflation reported in late January.
