Inflation in Spain in April rises to 4.1%, putting an end to downward trend
Drop in electricity prices lower than a year ago and fuel costs now higher
Inflation in Spain in April rose 0.8 percentage points to 4.1%, putting an end to the downward trend seen a month prior according to preliminary figures made public by the country's statistics institute (INE) on Friday morning.
This is due largely to the fact that the drop in electricity prices is lower than it was a year ago. Fuel costs are also higher now than they were in April 2022.
On the other hand, food and non-alcoholic beverage prices have gone up less this April than the same month a year earlier.
Core inflation, that is, inflation that does not include unprocessed food or energy products, actually went down 0.9 percentage points to 6.6%.
As for the monthly inflation variation, prices have climbed by 0.6% compared to March.
