Inflation in August has fallen by half a percentage point compared to the previous year, and now sits at the lowest level it has been in the past year, 2.4%.

The drop in inflation is attributed mainly to falls in fuel and food prices.

On the other hand, electricity has become more expensive than last year.

Core inflation, which doesn't include energy and unprocessed food, remained at 2.9%, the same rate as in July.

Prices in Catalonia rose by 0.1% in August compared to July.

In Spain as a whole, the inflation rate has fallen to 2.3%, with the month-by-month comparison remaining equal.
