Inflation drops to 3.2% in Catalonia in May
Cost of housing, transport, and cultural activities down slightly
Inflation dropped 0.7 percentage points to 3.2% in May in Catalonia according to figures made public by Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE) on Tuesday morning.
The cost of housing, transport, and cultural activities dropped slightly in May compared to the month prior.
Since the beginning of the year, however, only the price of clothing and footwear (-2.2%) and housing (-4.5%) has dropped, while year-on-year it has only been the case for housing (-8.7%) and transport (-3.5%).
Core inflation, which does not include unprocessed foods or energy products, fell to 6.1%.
Inflation across Spain was also 3.2% in May, 0.9 percentage points lower than in April. This is largely due to the cost of transport, food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and footwear, and housing, all of which have gone down.
Compared to other parts of Spain, Catalonia is one of the territories where inflation dropped the least in May.
