Inflation in Catalonia increases to 2.6% in November
Figure up by 0.6 percentage points compared to previous month
Inflation in Catalonia increased by 0.6 percentage points in November, reaching 2.6%, according to data released on Friday by Spain's statistics institute.
This marks the second consecutive month with an uptrend after September, with the minimum inflation rate recorded during the year at 1.7%.
In Spain, inflation stood at 2.4%, 0.6 percentage points more than the one registered in October, driven by higher electricity and fuel prices.
With this month's figure, pensions for 2025 will rise by 2.8%.
Higher price increases were recorded in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, with around 7% rises, around 4.4% in hotels and restaurants, 3.4% on alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and around 2.5% increase in the culture sector.
Only electricity, gas, and fuel saw an increase of 13.9% compared to the cost in November 2023.
Barcelona and Lleida had the highest inflation increases, both at 2.7%. Meanwhile, the rise in Tarragona was 2.6%, and in Girona, it was 2.3% compared to the previous year.
Pensions rise by €600
Inflation figures published in November confirmed that pensions during 2025 will increase by 2.8%, translating into around €600 more per year.
Spanish government forecasts that the increase will benefit around 9.3 million people who receive 10.3 million pensions.
