Home sales plummet during pandemic
Nearly half as many properties sold in May compared to same time last year in lowest figure since 2014
Like much of the rest of the economy during the pandemic, home sales in Catalonia have also suffered a severe contraction: 47.9% fewer properties were sold in May compared to the same time last year according to Spain's National Statistics Institute.
4,047 homes were sold in May, making it the lowest sales figure seen since December 2014 when 3,729 properties were sold.
Catalonia's numbers are only slightly better than Spain's as a whole, where sales dropped by 53.7% over the same period.
