Foreign investment in Catalonia doubled in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Industry Ministry.

Between April and June, foreign investment reached €743 million, an increase of 103% compared to last year.

This increase follows three consecutive months of decline, after a spike to €2.6 billion in the last quarter of 2023.

Compared to the first quarter of the year, foreign investment fell by 27%

So far this year, foreign investment in Catalonia has increased by 113% compared to the first half of last year, totaling €1.7 billion.

Overall, foreign investment in Spain amounted to €4.5 billion in the second quarter, a decrease of 26% compared to the first quarter of this year, but an increase of 129% compared to the second quarter of 2023.

The Community of Madrid leads Spain in foreign investment, reaching €3.7 billion in Q2, which represents 75% of the country's total.

However, it is important to note that the Spanish government's statistics count foreign investment based on the location of the companies' headquarters, regardless of where the investments are actually made.
